SkyX’s Aerial Technology for Climate Change Prevention

TORONTO, ON / ACCESSWIRE / January 10, 2023 /

With office locations across North America and Europe, SkyX uses UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) to provide actionable insights to limit the effects of climate change with aerial technology.

Founded in 2015 by Didi Horn – who has ten years’ prior experience as a Special Operations Commander in Drone Squadron – with a mission to reap the broadest benefits of drone technology for humanity, the company has its roots in the oil and gas sector. In that space, SkyX developed niche expertise in sourcing and analyzing long range aerial data, based on large volumes of overlapping high-resolution aerial photos.

SkyX’s technology enables energy companies to monitor terrain and identify areas of sunken or cracked ground that could indicate an increased risk of an incident in the pipeline.

This allows SkyX‘s client to take quick actions early as incidents were identified but, more important and valuable, preventative actions to avoid an incident actually occurring.

After seven years of specialized work in the oil and gas sector surveying thousands of miles of pipeline on an ongoing basis, the company is now expanding on ‘parallel uses’ of its technology.

For example, its unique technology has the capability of predicting the movement of wildfires in places like California and Greece and identifying suspicious movements in rural locations in Africa that could indicate illegal poaching activity.

What do we have to say:

SkyX founder and CEO, Didi Horn, says “With years of extensive experience, I saw the power of this technology. Drones, or more accurately, Autonomous Aerial Vehicles, do much more than help groceries be delivered on time or provide unmanned aerial support to military operations. We can apply this technology in a way that will alter the path of humanity in a positive way and make a real change in our everyday lives. That means protecting the environment by giving a head-start for decision makers to limit the effects of climate change and man-made disasters”.

It is this vision that lies behind the company’s shift from the oil and gas sector to broader humanitarian and environmental work.

Horn continues: “The robots in the skies, when used correctly, can allow an at-risk area to be evacuated before a natural disaster, or enable first responders to focus their efforts in the highest risk areas or divert water to the most needed locations; it can save lives”.

SkyX’s technology is autonomous, scalable and flexible, meaning that there are almost unlimited use cases open to the company to allow smart data funnels to those currently lacking high-quality aerial data. The only human input is in training the system in a way that is tailored to the specific pain points and needs of each customer.

The system can then provide specific recommendations, for example by tagging areas of concern based on urgency.

SkyX’s mission to take their clients from a position of ‘no data’, to ‘big data’, and then providing actionable smart data’ has led to Didi being invited to speak at the Natural Disaster Expo in Miami on 1st and 2nd March 2023.
